Pin Making Using Photoshop

😄 Joke of the day: Why did the student eat their homework? The teacher said it was a piece of cake.

⏰ Do Now — Start Here

What is one small logo or icon (from a show, game, or brand) you'd want turned into a wearable pin?

🎯 Today's Big Question

📈 By the End of Today, You Will Be Able To

  1. Use the Move tool to arrange images and the Crop tool to fit a design into a circular pin shape.
  2. Design at least 3 pin graphics based on a personal interest (show, game, hobby, etc.).
  3. Prepare pin designs at the correct scale/resolution for a small physical object.

🧰 What You'll Need

📋 Your Plan for Today

Day 1: Plan & Gather

  1. Do Now (5 min): what logo/image would you want turned into a pin? Mini-lesson (5 min): review copyright guidelines for using images from last semester.
  2. Independent work (30 min): choose 3 personal-interest images/logos, checking each against copyright guidelines, and gather/save them.
  3. Share (5 min): show a partner your 3 choices.

Day 2: Build

  1. Do Now (5 min): which Photoshop tool do you think you'll use most today? Mini-lesson/demo (8 min): demo the Move and Crop tools with the circular pin template.
  2. Independent build (27 min): fit each of your 3 images into the circular pin template, cleaning up edges and backgrounds.
  3. Save progress (5 min).

Day 3: Finalize & Critique

  1. Do Now (5 min): look at your 3 pins -- which is clearest at a small size? Peer critique (10 min): get feedback on clarity at small scale.
  2. Final adjustments (20 min): revise based on feedback.
  3. Export (10 min): export your pins as a print-ready sheet.
